Meeting Minutes
The first EuroStaff meeting was conducted last night at the B&N on Hurstbourne Lane. I arrived at 8:00, on time. Yeiser arrived at 8:13, fashionably late. Lasoski arrived at 8:32, inexcusably late.
At any rate, the meeting was somewhat productive. We borrowed some tour books and looked over a giant rail map of Europe and began brain storming some ideas about destinations. They included England(London, Oxford), France(Paris, Normandy, Bordeaux, Nice), Spain(Madrid, Barcelona), Italy(Rome, Florence, Venice), Austria(Salzburg, Innsbruck), and Germany(Berlin, Munich).
Obviously this is a little much and if we tried to do this in 3 weeks we would merely be sprinting from city to city as fast as we could. We will definitely need to narrow it down. Personally I would much rather narrow it to 4 or 5 cities and have the ability to spend a few days in each of those cities.
Yeiser has put together an online form that you will be able to fill out if you are still interested in going. If you want to be involved in the planning for this trip, the deadline for your committment will be August 31, 2004
As a side note for the Daves... I looked up where exactly the Normandy Beach heads were. They sort of form an "L" shape on the French coast. If you follow that river NW of Paris it will lead you roughly to Le Havre, which forms the top of the "L". Follow the coast SW; this forms the stem of the "L". Finally, the peninsula that juts out N forms the base, with Cherbourg at its tip. I saw something that this would be an easy 2-hour train ride from Paris and that a good starting point may be Caen.
